Choose the Oyster Price Plan that Suits You
At Oyster you can choose from one of three different pricing plans: Standard Oyster, PrepaidOyster 1 and PrepaidOyster 2. The Standard Oyster package is suitable for new or infrequent Internet users, while the PrepaidOyster 1 and PrepaidOyster 2 packages are suitable for regular and frequent Internet users.
In addition to the Internet Access Charge all Oyster dial up plans incur a local call charge of $0.15 per 10 minutes, rounded up to the nearest 10 minutes.
Registration Fee

A $25.00 registration fee is charged for the establishment of a new Oyster Internet Service account.

Standard Oyster
|
Access Fee: $20.00 a month
|
With the Standard Oyster Package you pay the monthly Access Fee of $20.00, and receive 5 hours to be used in each calendar month.
Internet usage in excess of 5 hours is chargeable at the rate of $4.00 per hour. Charges are calculated on a per minute basis, and rounded up
to the next whole minute.

Prepay Oyster 1
|
Access Fee: $60.00 a month
|
Prepay $60.00 for Access, and receive 17 hours to be used in each calendar month. Internet usage in excess of 17 hours is chargeable
at the rate of $3.50 per hour.
Charges are calculated on a per minute basis, and rounded up to the next whole minute.

Prepay Oyster 2
|
Access Fee: $120.00 a month
|
Prepay $120.00 for Access, and receive 50 hours to be used in each calendar month. Internet usage in excess of 50 hours is chargeable at the rate of $2.40 per hour.
Charges are calculated on a per minute basis, and rounded up to the next whole minute.

Oyster Internet Schools
|
Access Fee: $20.00 a month
|
Prepay $20.00 for Access, and receive 4 hours to be used in each calendar month. Internet usage in excess of 4 hours is chargeable at the rate of $2.40 per hour.
Charges are calculated on a per minute basis, and rounded up to the next whole minute.

Outer Islands - Registration Fee

Access Fee: $25.00
|
A $25.00 registration fee is charged for the establishment of a new Oyster Internet Service account.

|
Access Fee: $23.00 a month
|
Prepay $23.00 for Access, and receive 4 hours to be used in each calendar month. Internet usage in excess of 4 hours is chargeable at the rate of $5.75 per hour.
Charges are calculated on a per minute basis, and rounded up to the next whole minute.

Oyster National 2
|
Access Fee: $69.00 a month
|
Prepay $69.00 for Access, and receive 15 hours to be used in each calendar month. Internet usage in excess of 15 hours is chargeable at the rate of $4.60 per hour.
Charges are calculated on a per minute basis, and rounded up to the next whole minute.

All new registrations for the Oyster Prepay Package will be given 2 months from date of registration to use the hours applicable.
For example, if you join Oyster on August 15th and you do not use all your minutes by the end of August, the unused portion of your free minutes
will be carried forth 1 month only. So if you join on August 25th and use 3 minutes by the end of August, you will be able to use the remaining
minutes in September, in addition to the minutes available for September. In October any unused minutes from the previous months will not be available.
How Prepay Oyster Plan Packages Work
On the last day of each month we charge your account the monthly fee for the Oyster prepay option you have selected.
ie If you choose PrepaidOyster 1 on 17th of August we would charge your account the monthly PrepaidOyster
1 of $60.00 on the 31st of August.
On the first day of each month we allocate the hours of your new plan to your account.
ie If you choose PrepaidOyster 1 on 17th of August we would credit your account with 15 hours Internet Access to be used during September.
Any additional hours used will be charged at the Additional Hourly rate to the current months account. ie If you choose
PrepaidOyster 1 on 17th of August we would credit your account with 15 hours Internet Access to be used during September.
If you use the PrepaidOyster 1 hours plus an additional 2 hours Internet Access this will be at $5.60 per hour and charged to your September account.
Prepay Oyster pricing applies to standard dial-up access no matter where you are in the Cook Islands. All the hours you pre-pay for each month must be used within that month. Any unused time is not carried through to the next month.
Note: These prices are effective as of the 1st of July 2010.
Oyster Internet and E-mail Services
Oyster is the Internet Service Provider (ISP) that is owned and operated by Telecom Cook Islands (TCI). When you register with Oyster you get access to Internet services such as electronic mail (e-mail), the World Wide Web (WWW), File Transfers (FTP), Telnet, Usenet and Internet Relay Chats (IRC). Oyster supports dial-up modem speeds up to 56kbps (V.90) in Rarotonga, and 33.6kbps in the Outer Islands.
Temporary Oyster Registration
A temporary Oyster Internet access account can be registered for people who are visiting the Cook Islands and who do not intend to obtain a telephone account. Temporary Oyster registration costs NZ$25.00 and Internet usage is charged at $7.00 per hour, charged up to the nearest minute. Payment for this service can only be made by credit card. A NZ$500.00 deposit is required for all customers who do not live in the Cook Islands. The Oyster Price Plans referred to below, are only avaialable to customers who have a telephone account.
